I’ve given Public Policy Polling some grief about their polls , contending that because they don’t weight for party, many of their polls this year have presumed a throughly unrealistic level of turnout among Democrats. Well, give them a bit of credit; they have now shifted from polling “registered voters” to “likely voters.” And the results are dramatic : In PPP’s previous survey of the Pennsylvania Senate race in June, Republican Pat Toomey and Democrat Joe Sestak were dead even at 41% among occasional voters

No, this is not coming from Rasmussen or an internal GOP poll, but from the normally Democrat-sympathetic Public Policy Polling . PPP pitted Barack Obama against five potential Republican challengers for the 2012 presidential campaign, and the only one Obama beat was … Jan Brewer .

? driving doctors out of the market… ? Washington, D.C.: ObamaCare would drive practicing doctors out of business and suppress the recruitment of new physicians, resulting in long waits and rationed care for health care consumers. So concludes a new paper ” ObamaCare Would Drive Doctors Out of Business ” by Matt Patterson, health policy analyst for the National Center For Public Policy Research

Tom Jensen at Public Policy Polling observes : “Barack Obama now has a negative approval rating in every state he flipped from the Bush column to his in 2008. In each of those places his level of support is now in the 44-46% range. It’s probably a good thing he doesn’t have to run for reelection this year

Arguments by backers of President Obama’s health care proposals that the U.S. Congress has the constitutional authority to mandate that individual Americans purchase health insurance through the 16th Amendment to the Constitution, which permits the federal income tax, are incorrect. He has trouble with the US Constitution So concludes a new “What Conservatives Think” publication, “Is a Health Insurance “Individual Mandate” Constitutional?” written by policy analyst Matt Patterson of the National Center For Public Policy Research .

Nothing annoys my liberal friends more than bringing up the topic of the evil empire…otherwise known as Fox News Network. The irony is that I don’t watch a lot of TV news at all, and thus, don’t watch much of Fox News either. But still, just antagonizing my liberal buddies is worth the occasional viewing of O’Reilly, Hannity, Beck, and the rest of the network.

Don't look now, but Republican Scott Brown leads Democrat Martha Coakley by one point, 48 to 47 percent, in Public Policy Polling's new poll of the January 19 special Senate election in Massachusetts. Brown is benefiting from depressed Democratic interest in the election and a huge lead among independents for his surprisingly strong standing. Those planning to vote in the special election only report having voted for Barack Obama in 2008 by a 16 point margin, in contrast to his actual 26 point victory in the state.
